Marie Fielder of Selah, Washington went to be with her Lord on
July 9, 2007, surrounded by her children. Alice was born on August
15, 1924 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Andrew and Josephine
Buringrud.
She graduated from Fairview Nursing School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was a Registered Nurse for 46 years and truly loved her work.
She worked at Yakima Memorial Hospital and then at the New Valley
Hospital until retirement in 1991.
Since her retirement, she has spent many hours volunteering for
the Selah Senior Meals Program. She received many awards for her
volunteerism including Volunteer of the Year; The Presidential
Volunteer Service Award; and the Community Pride Award given to
her by the Mayor and City Council of Selah. These were very important
to her, as she always enjoyed helping others.
Alice was a member of the Selah Silver Set and she was a board
member of the Selah Civic Center. She enjoyed seeing all the improvements
accomplished in the years she was involved.
Her greatest joys were her five children and their families.
She was always there for them, and they loved her dearly. She
will be missed very much.
O' Lord, I look around to see the beautiful
world which you have given me.
The majestic mountains, the restful blue skies, the towering trees
and the beautiful flowers.
As the wistful breezes stir the trees, O' Lord, stir my heart
and fill my life with your loving spirit.
Reach down and touch my life with yours, for with your special
touch, I am changed.
I gain new hope when all around I see despair.
I receive new faith when struggles and hurts are great.
I am bathed in your peace, when tensions and worries abound.
And bright ideas come, when all possibilities seem lost.
