Our Earth Orbit service affordably launches a symbolic portion of cremated remains to space, aboard the Celestis spacecraft. Your loved one will venture into space as part of a real space mission, riding alongside a commercial or scientific satellite.

The Celestis spacecraft is placed in Earth orbit where it remains until it reenters the atmosphere harmlessly vaporizing like a blazing shooting star in final tribute.

The length of time the spacecraft remains in orbit depends on a variety of factors: orbital altitude, coordinates, etc. Previous Celestis missions are estimated to remain in Earth orbit between 10 years to 240 years. Specific launch information is provided to you after the launch occurs and the spacecraft completes one successful orbit.

Capsule Option (One participant, 1g)

• Launches one gram of cremated remains on the "next available" mission to Earth orbit;
• Invitation to launch and memorial services: pre-launch briefings, launch tour (when available);
• A professionally produced DVD of the launch and memorial activities;
• Inscription of the participant’s name on a special plaque included in the spacecraft;
• Personalized Online Memorial, including a biography (with one memorial subpage — 500 words/page, one photo) placed on the Celestis Web site, online guest book messages;
• Post-launch Certificate;
• Performance assurance — in the event the orbit is not reached, you will have the option for a priority re-flight, at no additional cost, on the next scheduled Space Services Inc. Earth Orbit launch.

Gemini Capsule Option (Two participants, 1g each)
Standard Service $3,745
Preferred Service $5,995 (please call for more information about preferred level service)

• Launches the cremated remains samples of two people (2 grams total — intermingled) in a Gemini Flight Capsule on next available mission to Earth orbit;
• Cremated remains of first participant safely stored in a safe deposit box at a Houston, Texas bank location until second participant’s time of need;
• Invitation to launch and memorial services: pre-launch briefings, launch tour (when available);
• A professionally produced DVD of the launch and memorial activities;
• Inscription of the participant’s name on a special plaque included in the spacecraft;
• Personalized Online Memorial, including two biographies (500 words/biography, one photo/biography) placed on the Celestis Web site, online guest book messages;
• Post-launch Certificate;
• Performance assurance — in the event the orbit is not reached, you will have the option for a priority re-flight, at no additional cost, on the next scheduled Space Services Inc. Earth Orbit launch.

• Launches seven grams of cremated remains on the "next available" mission to Earth orbit;
• Invitation to launch and memorial services: pre-launch briefings, personalized meeting and dinner with an astronaut, launch tour (when available);
• A professionally produced DVD of the launch and memorial activities;
• Complimentary scattering of balance of remaining cremated remains at sea near the launch site;
• Each individual Flight Module is inscribed with the participant’s name and flight message;
• Personalized Online Memorial, including a biography (with one memorial subpage — 500 words/page, one photo) placed on the Celestis Web site, online guest book messages, additional photos available;

Select Your Favorite Flight

As we conduct our launches around the world, you can specify the launch location you wish from those available. When available, a reservation can be made on a preferred (particular) flight for an additional 20% of the standard price for one service. Otherwise, we will include the cremated remains in the next available Earth Orbit launch.
